Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Known as The City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia is the largest city in the State of Pennsylvania and the sixth largest city in the U.S. as determined by population. According to Nielsen Media Research, Philadelphia is the fourth-largest consumer media market in the nation.

Prior to the American Revolution, Philadelphia was the social and geographical center of the 13 original colonies. Inventor Benjamin Franklin helped add to the city’s importance and was a large part of the reason that Philadelphia is still seen today as playing a huge part in the U.S.’s road to independence. During 1774, Philadelphia was the country’s first capital. Later, during the 18th century, New York City surpassed the city in social and political significance.

Historically, Philadelphia has been a city of many firsts. The first botanical garden in the nation was in the city, as was the first public library, first hospital, medical school, university, post office, bank, zoo and stock exchange. Philadelphia also was home to the first electronic computer.
